Japan Tobacco International (JTI) is a global company — with roots here in Switzerland. Switzerland is important for JTI as a market and production location. In addition to the international headquarters in Geneva, the Swiss national market organization is based in Dagmersellen, Lucerne.
There are several reasons why we are so successful in Switzerland. Among the most important are the excellent vocational education system, the flexible labor market and the stable political environment.
44 million cigarettes a day
Our success story began back in 1971 with the opening of the production facility in Dagmersellen. Since then we have grown steadily. Today, 44 million cigarettes are shipped out of the factory daily — mostly destined for export to around 22 countries all over the world.
To ensure that JTI’s Swiss operation maintains its competitiveness in the future, we continually invest in our production facilities.

As a manufacturer of tobacco products, we take our social and environmental responsibilities seriously. We are committed supporters of effective safeguards for young people and for a minimum age of 18 for cigarette purchases.
By using start-of-the-art technologies, our production facilities are more efficient and energy-saving than ever before.
As an award-winning employer we want to give something back to society: For many years now, we have supported numerous charitable, cultural and environmental projects in the region and throughout Switzerland.

Brands
Tobacco is our passion. Popular traditional brands like Winston and Camel are instantly recognizable and have always been a special source of pride.
Camel was the first international cigarette brand. Today it is sold in more than 100 countries. Camel has also firmly established in the Swiss market and is one of the best-selling cigarette brands.
When it was introduced in 1954, Winston was one of the very first filter cigarettes. Today Winston products are sold in over 100 countries. In Switzerland, Winston holds the #3 position among top-selling cigarette brands.
The Virginia blend cigarette was created in 1873 especially for the then Prince of Wales. In summer 2011, JTI Switzerland added Benson London, a new brand to the Benson & Hedges family.
Established in the 1980s in Santa Fe (USA), Natural American Spirit still stands for natural tobacco enjoyment without any additives. NAS became part of the JTI family in 2016.
